Microfinance: Changing Lives $50 at a Time

Microfinance: Changing Lives $50 at a Time
In this topic I just going to talk about the grammar that the unit have.

Well, the grammar of this unit is about Unreal Conditionals - Present, Past, and Mixed.

This is a topic that can generate confusion for it's structure.

First of all, I going to write the formula for the present and the past Unreal Conditionals.

Formula for the present : If + simple past + would or could + simple present.

Formula for the past : If + past perfect + would or could + present perfect.

Now I going to write some examples

Present : If I were home, I will feel better.
(That means he is not home)

If Maria Jose weren't a successful micro- entrepreneur, her children couldn't attend school.

( That means that she is a good micro - entrepreneur and therefore her children can attend school )

Past : If she had gone to class, she could have taken the exam.

( That means that she did not go to class, so she could not take the exam )

If Maria Jose's friend hadn't had faith in her, she wouldn't have given Maria Jose her first 25 dollar loan.

( That means that Maria Jose's friend has faith in Maria Jose for what she lent her 25 dollar )

The Mixed Conditionals are a combination of two different conditionals, usually between the second and the third conditional.

The are different structures of mixed conditionals, but we will focus on the two most common, which are a combination of the second and third conditional.

2nd conditional:  If + sujeto + past perfect, sujeto + would + verbo en infinitivo

3rd conditional:  If + sujeto + past simple, sujeto + would + have + verbo en participio
