The Bold and the Bashful


In this unit, we talked about the difference between being bold, and bashful.

Bold, in this case means being shy, timid, reserved, shrinking violet, wall flower, and bashful is the opposite, it means being outgoing.












I consider myself as a shy person, but it depends of the moment, If I am surrounded of people that I don't know I would feel  a little bit  nervous, after talking with them I fell confident.


Bashful, in this case means being outgoing, sociable, extrovert, gregarious, life of the party, open, social butterfly, standoffish.
















Vocabulary of the unit


Reticent: a person who is afraid to talk.
Phobia: when you are afraid of something.
Merit: value.
Extrovert: sociable, bashful.
Adverse: bad consequences, bad situation.
Syndrome: it is a condition.
Chronic: continued.
Kindred souls: two person that are similar.
Misattribution: bad.
Handicap: a problem.
Aloof: distant, cold.
Condescending: treating others as inferior




Grammar



Adjective clauses: are used to add variety, sophistication, and interest to sentences. They are useful in combining sentences to provide more details and information. There are two kinds of adjective clauses: identifying and nonidentifying.


Identifying adjective clauses
  • Has a subject and a verb
  • Modifies specific nouns and pronouns
  • Can be introduced by who, whom, which, that, whose, where, and when
  • Is not set off by commas
  • Is essential to the meaning of the sentences











Nonidentifying Adjective Clauses

  • Has a subject and a verb
  • Is used with the relative pronouns who,whom, which, and whose. It is also used with where and when and can not be used with that.
  • Must describe a specific  person o thing.
  • Is set off by commas.
  • Is not essential to the meaning of the sentences and may be ommited.

  1. Very good job! This topic was very interesting because many people consider themselves as shy. However, sometimes the environment determines the feeling. It just depend on the place that we feel more confortable. Great summary of the uhile some people feel confident in a place pnit, I loved it!
